Introduce useful health-related vocabulary with this French doctor’s office observation and writing activity. Students examine a detailed medical clinic scene, describe patients and healthcare professionals, and use relevant nouns, verbs, and adjectives to create sentences, dialogue, and connected descriptive texts.
This differentiated resource includes a detailed black-and-white illustration, a bilingual vocabulary reference sheet, four levels of writing support, teacher instructions in French and English, and possible answers. It is ideal for French Immersion Grades 6-9 and adaptable for High School Core French/FSL students.
Students will observe and describe people, actions, and objects in the kitchen while practising vocabulary, verb conjugation, adjective agreement, sentence structure and descriptive language.

SCENE-SPECIFIC VOCABULARY:
This resource introduces vocabulary associated with things happening at a doctor’s office, including words such as:
🩷 Verbs: remplir, attendre, rentrer, parler…
🩷 Nouns: une réception, un formulaire, un(e) patient(e), un thermomètre…
🩷 Adjectives: malade, patient(e), fatigué(e), épuisé(e)…
The complete vocabulary page provides French words alongside their English equivalents. Verbs are presented in the infinitive, nouns include articles, and masculine and feminine adjective forms are provided when applicable.

✔ Invite students to identify the people, objects, actions and locations they can see.
✔ Use the scene for a whole-class or small-group oral observation activity.
✔ Students may complete the empty dialogue bubbles by imagining a conversation between two characters.
✔ Students consult the bilingual vocabulary page as needed.
✔ Select the writing page that provides the most appropriate level of support for each student.
✔ Students progress from identifying individual words to writing complete sentences and connected texts.
✔ Use the possible answers for correction, discussion or additional sentence models.
DIFFERENTIATED WRITING OPTIONS:
🩷 Complete Word Support
All three vocabulary boxes are filled with suggested verbs, nouns and adjectives. One complete model sentence is included. This version provides the highest level of support.
🩷 Partial Word Support
One verb, noun and adjective are provided as examples. One complete model sentence is included. Students add vocabulary before writing their own sentences.
🩷 Independent Vocabulary and Sentences
All vocabulary boxes and writing lines are blank. Students identify their own words and write complete sentences about the scene.
🩷 Continuous Writing
Students write a connected text describing and explaining what is happening. They are encouraged to use precise nouns, varied verbs, descriptive adjectives and connecting words.
